As all major in person events were cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19, the yearly Toyota events migrated to a virtual platform. The events consisted not only of live speakers but also about 16 videos, so the need for video content was crucial.

Kaleidoscope hired SkipRope to acquire and oversee all crews and shoots outside of North America. We set up a total of 18 interviews over 12 shoot days in 7 cities over the course of a month. The challenge was to shoot a series of interviews of CEOs and Toyota Employees at their place of business while creating a consistent style between all interviews so that they would cut interchangeably between each other in the same film and other different films. We produced a total of 17 films total for the event. By creating a unique style guide and production template for these interviews based on the Kaleidoscope shooting style, shooting requirements and covid regulations and rigorously briefing the local DPs, fixers, Directors, we were able to ensure all films would cut together seamlessly.

Given that our Director and DOP couldn’t fly to any location to shoot, SkipRope identified DOPs in each city and also used local directors in the countries in China and Japan. Then every shoot was live streamed to the creative director in Los Angeles for her to direct and oversee.

SkipRope identified the best partners in each location to ensure an all around successful shoot. We managed the budgets, the crews, the location scouts and ensured the safety of each shoot with Corona Protocols while shooting during the pandemic.
